Shameless Plug For My New Radio Show!

College baseball is in its glory right now, what with the Finals being an all-SEC affair featuring LSU v. Florida. Which means that Ole Miss is only going to be the defending College World Series champions for about three or four more days. But the trophy stays in the SEC so it's all good.

Also all good? ROCK AND ROLL RADIO - today! And we did it again - we found one of those songs that you KNOW you've heard and you KNOW you loved but you CAN'T find it ANYWHERE. Well - your search is over! What song is it? Ha! Listen to find out! I will tell you this - it leads off the third set.

Joining that hidden gem are known gems from the likes of Dan Baird, Montrose, Bonafide, The Clash, L. A. Guns (wait 'til you hear THEIR story!), the Eagles and Ryan Hamilton. Plus a few things new to ROCK AND ROLL RADIO from Gunfire 76, Black 'N Blue and Col. Parker.

Not to be outdone, the Ladies That Rock bring us bangers from Jaggedy Ann, Larkin Poe, The Cocktail Slippers, Elles Bailey and the only Screamo song I'll ever play, which is from Rio de Janeiro's's Melyra. Screamo, you ask? Screamo, I say!

The rumpus drops live at 4 PM and you can listen the old-fashioned way at www.highvolumemusicradio.com or you can jam any time, all the time (for a week, anyway!) with the High Volume Music Radio app. Either way, you're going to be glad you did!

Howdy do! It's a holiday weekend here in the USofA and we're going to take it with the rest of the country. Meaning, no ROCK AND ROLL RADIO today. Also meaning, we will have a plethora of platinum rock next week! Have a great safe weekend and remember:

If you want to see the Fourth, don't drink a fifth on the Third.

Man oh man, can that Eddie Van Halen play the bass. I think you know that he's....wait a minute. The BASS?!? Dude, everyone knows EVH was one of the greatest GUITARISTS ever. He didn't play the bass!

Or did he?!?

Turns out he did! In fact, he played bass for a friend on an entire album and guess who's going to spin a cut from that album?

Your old friends at ROCK AND ROLL RADIO, that's who! We all love surprises so you're just going to have to tune in today at 4 PM CDT at www.highvolumemusicradio.com or on the High Volume Music Radio app to hear EVH on the 4-string.

But when you do, you'll also hear EVH on guitar with a smokin' Van Halen outtake, John Parr who has a story that will FLOOR you, a Buckcherry song you can't buy anywhere but in Japan (true!), a love song like no other from The Wildhearts, and in honor of the Supersuckers show I attended last week, a whole lot of Eddie Spaghetti and friends!

You know it, I know, and the people of the world know it - the ladies will be rocking as usual! Yes indeed, it's another cracking set from the Ladies That Rock and did I mention? No one else does this but ROCK AND ROLL RADIO!

We've got listeners from almost every continent in the world (where you at, Antarctica?), so join the celebration. Hope to see you there!

Ooops! If you read this post before I edited it, then you got a sneak peak at NEXT week's show! Oh no, now you have to wait another week to hear what Osmond's song we're playing!

But THIS week will keep you satisfied! We've got brand-new stuff from The Bites, Motorhead, Ginger Wildheart & Ryan Hamilton, a Europe-only cover from The Hellacopters, and a great song from a Disney movie - yes, a Disney movie - that for some reason just isn't available anywhere else.

Also not available anywhere else is The Ladies That Rock! This week, we have The Muffs, Phantom Rose, Givvi Flynn and three bonus songs with the ladies in them. How does eight Ladies That Rock songs (mostly) in a row sound? Pretty good if you ask me!

I'll be joining you from beautiful Lake Tahoe - right after a live performance from your favorite snowboarder, my favorite daughter, and the creator of the ROCK AND ROLL RADIO Intro - Sydney Schroder!

Hmmmm - live rock and roll from Lake Tahoe, and then ROCK AND ROLL RADIO? Sounds like a plan!

Ugh - technical difficulties. It looks like the over-lapping of vacations caught ROCK AND ROLL RADIO in the middle. So...last week's episode is going to drop this Friday. You know what that means, right?

Now you have to wait until NEXT WEEK to hear that Osmond's song! Isn't the suspense killing you? :)

I wondered about that... I was trying to catch that first song and was using bad language cuz it wouldn't happen and I'd even set my alarm.

Well...better late than never!

Last week, the server crashed and caused a 1 1/2 hour delay in programming, but it resumed where it would have been had there been no crash. TL;DR - last week, only the final 30 minutes got broadcast and I'm guessing no one stuck around that long to hear it. So.......

The entire show goes off today! As I said before -

I have already been to beautiful Lake Tahoe, and absolutely loved the live performance from your favorite snowboarder, my favorite daughter, and the creator of the ROCK AND ROLL RADIO Intro - Sydney Schroder! Oh yeah, we also saw some dude named Hagar. First name...Sammy? Yeah, that's the guy!

Hmmmm - live rock and roll from Lake Tahoe, and then ROCK AND ROLL RADIO? Sounds like a plan! 4 PM CDT on the High Volume Music Radio app!

Quick ROCK AND ROLL RADIO update:

A little technical snag delayed yesterday's show by 30 minutes.

If you log into the podcast for ROCK AND ROLL RADIO, advance to the 30-minute mark, and the show will start there.

Unfortunately, that means the last 30 minutes of the show did not broadcast. It was 30 minutes of greatness, but I'll figure out a way to get it out there in a week or two!

ALERT! Station owner Ant Boogie is having some upgrades and renovations done to the facilities that house High Volume Music Radio, so in order to not conflict with the hammering, sawing, welding and general construction-related cacophony (you didn't know I knew that word, did you?), ROCK AND ROLL RADIO will take the day off and return next week.

Oh, and next week's show is already programmed, noted and ready to go. I absolutely, positively PROMISE you that incredible Osmonds song will be played. You will NOT believe the story behind it - it's INSANE! And that is just the tip of the iceberg with regards to what's coming your way.

See you next week!

Do you have a rain dance? We could use it. How about a No Technical Glitches dance? Do that one too, because today's episode of ROCK AND ROLL RADIO is one for the ages!

It's been promised for about a month now but TODAY IS THE DAY. Oh yeah, I'd probably better remind you - today is the day we crank out a song first recorded by The Osmonds! Yes, THOSE Osmonds! This one is a cover by our buddies Black Star Riders but just WAIT until you hear the story behind this song and the Osmonds. It is INSANE.

Joining this triumph of rock and roll are some new friends, Red Voodoo. We saw them in Lake Tahoe, opening for Sammy Hagar and that was no coincidence. Sammy is 100% behind these guys and when you hear Red Voodoo, you'll understand why!

We don't stop there! How about some new stuff from Rhino's Revenge, Dr. Boogie, the L. A. Maybe and Dynamite? We've got 'em and they're paired with classics from ZZ Top, Junkyard, Rainbow and Bad Company. But wait, there's more!

Not only are we playing Terry Anderson and the Olympic Ass-Kicking Team, we have breaking Terry Anderson and the Olympic Ass-Kicking Team news! What is it? Tune in to find out!

As we've done for 126 shows, episode 127 of ROCK AND ROLL RADIO features a Ladies That Rock set and this one is - as always, right? - one for the books. No one else does this and I'm pretty sure that now they don't do it because the bar we've set is too high. So enjoy the high bar, you've earned it!

The fun drops today at 4 PM CDT and you can join it on the High Volume Music Radio app, available at all the best app stores. See you then!

I wish I could make it cooler but on today's ROCK AND ROLL RADIO, we're bringing the fire! How so, you ask?

If you tune in today, you'll hear both your new favorite song, and your new second-favorite song. At least, they are for me and for everyone I've played them for so far! What are they? C'mon, you don't think I'm going to give that away, do you?!?

I'm not saying the artists aren't listed in the next few lines but I'm not saying they aren't either. So.....let's groove to some Def Leppard, Warner Hodges, Bonafide, Shake City, Ginger Wildheart, Sammy Hagar and The Heavy. We're internationaling like no one else too, with acts from England, Sweden, Australia, the UK and the USA. No one internationals like ROCK AND ROLL RADIO!

Nor does anyone blast out the Ladies That Rock like we do, either. Did you know we have more than 275 songs in our Ladies That Rock catalog? We do, and you'll hear five of the best today. That would include VA ROCKS, Grace Potter, Orianthi, Veruca Salt and a band with a name that station owner Ant Boogie is absolutely going to love. Yeah, that's another teaser - tune in to find out who that might be!

The show goes live at 4 PM CDT today and you can access it through the High Volume Music Radio app. I hope you do!

Fresh off the baseball trip of a lifetime, we're replaying the past New Year's Eve broadcast of ROCK AND ROLL RADIO for this Labor Day Weekend. I know FOR A FACT that episode set the tone for what has been an incredible 2023 - and it's not too late for a reset if we need it!

If KISS, The Faces, Warner Hodges, The Middlenight Men, ZZ Top, The Fratellis, Junkyard, Aerosmith etc., etc., and etc. don't do the trick, well...

...let the Ladies That Rock try! I bet The Muffs, Soraia, Ultra Mega Cat Attack, Stacie Collins and Transvision Vamp can smash that reset button!

The show drops at 4 PM CDT today non - of course - the High Volume Music Radio app. No excuses - however the first 8 months have been, the last four are going to be EPIC!

What was the 'baseball trip of a lifetime'?

What was the 'baseball trip of a lifetime'?

Astros v. Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston. It was EPIC. The stadium is incredible. The fans were (mostly) very nice. The weather was perfect. The Green Monster is everything I thought it would be, and more. Plus, the Astros won all three games!

What do you do when you get back from the baseball trip of a lifetime? The same thing you do when you get back from a trip to the grocery store, the auto shop or the beauty salon - you play rock and roll!

Yep - after a couple weeks of encore performances, ROCK AND ROLL RADIO is back with an all-new show today. And what a show it is!

I may have been busy watching the Houston Astros completely own the Boston Red Sox, but the Rolling Stones were busy recording new songs. The first one is out and it is AWESOME. So of course it leads off today's show!

Following Mick and the Stones will be a WHOLE BUNCH of our favorites - The Struts, Van Halen, Goodbye June, Y&T, and a brand-new song from our buddies Bad Touch. Plus a whole lot more!

Speaking of new stuff, we've got some in the Ladies That Rock. I thought I knew all the Ladies That Rock but we found an all-girl band in Montreal that...well, you need to hear them. And I'm going to play them! Who are they? Aw, c'mon - don't you like surprises?

The show drops LIVE today at 4 PM CDT. You can listen online at www.HighVolumeMusicRadio.com or you can join the cool kids and download the High Volume Music Radio app. That way, you can listen any time, all the time!

It's good to be back - let it ROCK!

It's not polite to brag but I am in a bragging mood today - bragging on ROCK AND ROLL RADIO, that is!

I thought last week's show might have been our best ever - until I recorded today's show. What floors me is that after 131 episodes, it's STILL raining new rock and roll on us!

Yes, I firmly believe we're in the Second Golden Age of Classic Rock. Listen to today's show and you will too! Who's going to convince you?

Terry Anderson, Deraps, Daxx and Roxane, Starcrazy and Wild Angels, that's who! They'll be joined by Prince, Pearl Jam, Montrose, Warner Hodges, Anthony Gomes and Eric Ambel, just to name a few.

The new music doesn't stop with the Ladies That Rock, either. We're getting pretty close to meeting our goal of 300 LTR songs by the end of the year - two of the new ones this week come from NOBRO and Bywater Call. They're from Canada and so are the other three acts in LTR this week. Sometimes the Rock and Roll Universe just lines it up that way!

Today's episode plays at 4 PM CDT - you can listen to it as it does at www.highvolumemusicradio.com and of course you can listen to it ANY TIME in the next week through the High Volume Music Radio app. I hope you do, you're gonna love it!

I know we're still in a drought in many areas - including Seattle. Seattle?!? Yes, Seattle. But one place where there ISN'T a drought is rock and roll!

Yes my friends, I am now more sure than ever that we're living in a New Golden Age of Rock and Roll. It's raining rock and roll and we're playing it all on ROCK AND ROLL RADIO!

We've got new stuff from new bands. We've got new stuff from old friends. We've got new stuff all around, from Jesse James Dupree, Brian Setzer, Dirty Honey and The Struts to name a few.

They're joined by Bob Seger, The L. A. Maybe, De Piratas, The Clash, Bryan Adams, Detective and many more. Plus, we've got those bands you just won't find anywhere else (has satellite radio not got the news yet about this New Golden Age of Rock and Roll?). I'm talking about Palace of the King, The New Roses, The Claws, Red Fun and The Middlenight Men. It's a thunderstorm of rock!

But I know what you want to know - will we play NOBRO three weeks in a row? Only the Ladies That Rock know! If we DO play NOBRO three weeks in a row, you'd hear NOBRO, Sheryl Crow and three more ladies that don't rhyme with "NOBRO". Oh - we're rapidly approaching a Ladies That Rock catalog of 300 songs, which I think is about 275 more songs than you'll find anywhere else.

So tune in at 4 PM the old-fashioned way at www.highvolumemusicradio.com or download the High Volume Music Radio app from your favorite app store and play us anywhere - no umbrellas needed!

The Second Golden Age of Classic Rock continues in full force - and ROCK AND ROLL RADIO is honored to bring it to you!

We're approaching our third year anniversary - three shows from now, in fact - and my idea is to make it a show with the best songs I've discovered through this show. Songs that I almost certainly would not have known about otherwise. But you know what? The way great new music is raining down on us, I'm not going to be able to put that together until the very last minute. Great stuff is released almost daily!

This week we've got brand-new rock from Bonafide (with another one coming from Pontus next week!), The Bites, Starmen, The Lazys, and Robert Jon and the Wreck. What? You haven't heard of some of those bands? Well, you should know by now that by the time ROCK AND ROLL RADIO is over you're going to be glad you heard them!

Joining that roster are blasters from Adam Bomb, Junkyard, AC/DC, Dan Baird, the Midnight Devils and the only song that Led Zeppelin NEVER played live. Plus, we've got some squeaking and beeping about an INCREDIBLE Guiness World Record set by our friends DeWolff, statistics that prove no one internationals like ROCK AND ROLL RADIO, and a tip about tour riders from our friend Allen Hill that will leave you laughing for HOURS!

Not to mention The Ladies That Rock. We HAVE to mention The Ladies That Rock, don't we? You bet! Joanne Shaw Taylor, Tequila Mockingbyrd, Bat Allison, New Rock City and Cherry Bombz give us the five songs this week, and four of those songs are brand-new (to the show and/or to the world). That means we are within shouting distance of our goal to build a 300-song Ladies That Rock catalog. We're going to do it soon and if I was a betting man, I'd bet that the show where we reach that incredible number will be a show dedicated entirely to The Ladies That Rock!

Tune in live today at 4 PM CDT at www.highvolumemusicradio.com or download the High Volume Music Radio App and jam any time, all the time!
