TFG’s illegal stash of gov’t documents at mar-a-lago & other legal troubles

Deserves a special thread, all it’s own, dontcha think?

I was brushing my teeth when I listened to this - it’s about rudy giuliani’s legal troubles… but it’s what came after this clip, that I hope you can also listen to. They’re clips from Lawrence O’Donnell’s ‘The Last Word’ show. It’s a series of experts explaining the legal ins-and-outs about the search at mar-a-lago and what was found there. I let the clips run, one after the next. It was pretty interesting. I hope that series of clips will run for you, too.

I had heard that some of the gov't documents stashed in maralago had such top secret designations, we'd never know the details. It didn't occur to me that they were so sensitive that the former guy would never be prosecuted.

I wouldn't want to be Donald Trump or any of his friends right now. I think they're all in a whole lot of trouble.

I hear, through various podcasts and what-not that a general meltdown is in progress, that t---- jumped completely off his rocker and tweeted (oops... twuthed, as elmer fudd would say) some 200x yesterday. Generalized flailing. And, uncertain whether the guy has friends.

Holy Crap This Photo! [TPM; 8.31.22]

At first glance, it appears that the documents were strewn around like in the photo, but it turns out that the FBI arranged them that way, as part of documenting what was found, as shown by the label '2A' and the square with marks to indicate scale.

I've no doubt, nothing would have stopped t---- from using the documents for any and all nefarious purposes, if that advanced him personally. And, given that he's had them for 18 months... and that we know spies of various stripes have frequented mar-a-lago... and that there's security camera footage of the boxes being carried in and out of the room.

But, it may have started out as a version of "the king was in the counting house, counting out his money..." All this treasure as evidence that he'd had the keys to all America's secrets, a peon to his delusion.

Opinion: What if Trump's pile of papers is nothing more than a prop? [8.30.22; WaPo].

I’ve read analysis pointing out that privilege does not apply here…
But it will take valuable time to arrive at that conclusion.
I agree with this next observation.
Read the whole conversation.

Yesterday was a watershed day, by all accounts. I'd direct people to listen to The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell from September 21, 2022. I find his explanations easiest to follow.

The summary: "Tonight on The Last Word: Donald Trump loses in his classified documents appeal. Also, New York Attorney General Letitia James sues Trump and three children to bar them from running businesses in New York...."

He had a very bad day, didn't he?

Yesterday I heard someone, a Buddhist, remark about not taking pleasure in other's misfortune. That's probably more a universal. So, I'm doing my best not to run around outside in the rain ululating (if I knew how to do that, I'd probably be out there, anyway).
