I'd been thinking of suggesting a thread for posting Black Lives Matter signs. I've seen some beautiful ones. I'll post the only one I have a photo of right now, here, along with this tragic article about Tamir Rice.

I do a bit of tutoring. This video was from a Social Psychology class, an assignment for a segment: Prejudice, Stereotyping, & Discrimination. There are probably lots of studies like this. Do you know of this one? Others? Do you have an opinion about them?

There are handmade signs al over my neighborhood - lots made by kids. I'll try and take some pics while I am out walking the pup. ;)

Casey Christopher Goodson, Jr.'s life was taken from him.
Ohio Man Is Shot Dead by a Deputy Searching for Someone Else
The police department's own Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the incident."The Ohio attorney general’s office, which normally investigates shootings involving police officers, said it declined to do so in this case because it was not notified until three days later, after witnesses were interviewed and the scene was cleared."

Celebrating cool BLM signs and BLAM! - once again - the ugly reason for those signs strikes like lightning. Have been seeing/reading about this and as usual, it's horrifying. The FBI has been called in to assist in the case for what it's worth.

But Casey's Mom on CNN last night tells us everything we need to know. Another brutal murder of a young black man doing absolutely nothing except walking into his own house with Subway sandwiches for his grandmother and little brother, after a dental appointment. How many more?

I've just been reading about this. I know on the other site whenever we used to discuss gun laws, a certain individual used to always say, 'Cops first'. I absolutely think there is a case for taking guns away from the police and putting much, much stricter gun laws in place for everyone. No bodycam footage, two conflicting stories, the truth will never come out and another young Black man dead, whilst another cop gets off scot-free.

They had a piece on 60 minutes on "exited delirium" - a catch-all term used in death cases (like George Floyd) and to justify giving Ketamine shots to control people they are arresting. It was given to poor Elijah McClain (2x the dose for his weight), he died 3 days later. He was the kid who played violin for rescued kittens.

Excited Delirium: The controversial syndrome that can be used to protect police from misconduct charges - 60 Minutes - CBS News
A friend has been taking a course in social psychology and wrote his final paper on a research article titled: 'Killing Fields: Explaining police violence against persons of color'. A section in the paper refers to 'The gorilla effect', a dehumanizing tactic in which the victim is described as 'a monster' with superhuman strength. Such tactics were used by Darren Wilson in his description of Michael Brown, even though Michael Brown was slightly overweight and not quite as tall as Darren Wilson himself. Wilson went on further to describe Michael Brown as grunting and charging at him, and this after Michael Brown had been shot multiple times, which, of course, defies credibility: an unarmed person, grievously injured, charging an armed man. The same type of portrayal happened to Rodney King. Use of the term 'excited delirium' seems like a simple extension of the 'gorilla effect' and, as it's said, another shield against culpability.

All of these cases tear me up, and then some absolutely gut me...this is one of them.
