'sup y'all,

i was able to get the $3500 to my landlord back in february (thank you again for helping me!)! also, the rent assistance that i had reapplied for finally sent a $1000 check to my landlord last week, so he has that as well. my back rent balance is currently $3,658.30--still a lot, but at least it's better than it was a couple months ago. :whew:i'm still in my apartment and am still working towards finding a job. i have picked out some potential places that i'm interested in working at and i was supposed to start filling out applications and reaching out to folks last week, but my career counselor couldn't meet up with me because she was out sick. hopefully i will be getting that started this coming wednesday. it sux that things have been bumped back a little bit.

also, if you follow me over on insta you know that i am getting ready to undergo top surgery in a few weeks. i'm simply getting my boobs removed, not gonna be doing anything beyond that. april 14th is my surgery date and i'm still getting ready for it. i'm very fucking excited, i have been working towards this since last summer and it's almost time now! :excited: my state health insurance will cover the surgery in its entirety, so things should be all good there (thank goodness for MN covering gender-affirming surgery). i have neighbors who'll help me with any assistance i need and will check up on me for the week after my surgery. it shouldn't affect my job search or potential jobs any, as i can get a doctor's note with any restrictions i need; i've had reduction surgery in the past and i was able to go back to work within a week or two and just couldn't lift anything heavy for a bit. i'm familiar with the healing process, since it's a similar surgery. s'gonna suck for a bit, but i'll be better once it's done!

my landlord is continuing to work with me and help me as best as he can to make sure i can stay here, but the owners are still being impatient assjacks even though i'm still working with the landlord and they know that i'm still working hard at trying to get money for rent. right now, they are wanting me to at least pay rent for the month of april--just the usual $630--and they're also like "we want you to start paying monthly!" fuck, so would i & i'm trynna make things right, but i gotta wait on everybody else to even move forward! :pissed: however, since i will be healing up for at least a good while out i emailed the landlord for clarification. are the owners wanting me to also pay for may's rent as well? would it be a good idea for me to do so--i definitely don't wanna get kicked out either way. i gotta know! i emailed the landlord yesterday and i'm still waiting for a response.

for now, i'm just gonna assume they're only wanting the $630 for now. i've got $25 of it already--if you're able to, please help me with scratching up at least that much so i will be able to have a safe place to heal in april as well as having a place to stay while i look for work. i'll let y'all know what the landlord says about anything else, plus let you know if i end up finding work in the meantime. i absolutely hate being at the mercy of others, but i've really no one else to help me out and local rent assistance programs are either outta money or i don't meet all the qualifications.

if you are able to, please help me out! i still have paypal: bsk3478@gmail.com. thank you so much in advance!

Hi Dansa,

I don't know about these things but I was thinking about crowd-funding and had a look on line for what's available. This is the first thing I came across, so it comes with many grains of salt.

Givebutter Fundraising

I think I passed one page on this site that said it was free for individuals, ... but I might be mistaken. Do the companies that provide these apps skim a lot off the top?

People might be more inclined to help if they can see the progress towards the goal on an app like this.

Other folks here could direct you better than I. I'm sure. Just getting the conversation rolling. Sorry for all the frustrations. It sounds like you're doing the work to make the right things happen.\\

okay--i set up a givebutter account, but i gotta wait a day or two before they activate it. i'll post the link to my fundraising page here once it's been approved. thanx, barnswallow!

i just received $100 from another friend via paypal, so i've got $150 so far. $3K to go.

'sup y'all,

i am currently about 9 months behind on rent at the moment and i owe $6,300.00 as of the 1st of this month. i've applied for rental assistance in the past several months which has kept me housed, but the last one i applied for didn't even come thru. i applied for it via email back on september 14th of this year. the email response they sent said that they'd be getting back to me within 30 days. it took them 3 months to respond, only to come back and tell me last week "sorry, we're denying yer application because it's out of date".

they sat on my application for like 3 whole months without a word to neither me nor my landlord, only to tell me this. of course it's outdated now, you sat on it for so long!!!! :pissed: so, i'm currently reapplying for that and will be sending it thru the mail this time (certified, so i know if/when they have it). i have a feeling it may end up going the same way as last time.

for the past 5 months or so, i've been hard at work attending a weekly training program for disabled folks & i'm close to the point where i can start finding work, but even that's gone slow. i can't even get a hold of the people i need to get a hold of in order to move forward: agencies are understaffed right now due to people retiring or leaving (the pandemic put a wrench in a lot of things in general, it's taken me 2 years to get to where i am now), so waitlists are long and waiting to hear back from people is even longer. 😫

my landlord has been nothing but helpful and understanding this whole time and has assisted me in finding resources to help me with my rent, but the owners of the building i live in have grown impatient even though they know i've been keeping constant contact with the landlord and updating him daily on my situation. on november 30th, i got a letter from them saying that if i don't pay at least half of what i owe in back rent by january 30th, they will evict me. if i get kicked out of my apartment, i will have absolutely nowhere to go and i won't be able to even continue on with trying to find work or be able to keep in contact with the social worker folks who help me every month. it's close to the dead of winter too, so i definitely cannot become homeless around this time. i am disabled, so it would be even harder still for me.

as i mentioned before, i am $6,300.00 behind on rent. i will need to pay at least $3,150.00 in order to keep living here. i've received $50 so far. i am fine with food and bills; thankfully, most of my utilities are included in my rent and the only things i pay for are my internet & phone bill which i pay for with the $203 i get each month from general assistance.

if you are able to, please help me out! you can either send me funds on paypal bsk3478@gmail.com or via venmo (my username there is iknowonethang). thank you so much in advance!

Are you going to be ok?
i'm honestly not sure at this point. i've received $1,290 so far, which is a lot but still isn't enough. plus i got my latest rent statement from my landlord yesterday and including this month's rent, i now owe $6,930 as of january 1st. they're still expecting me to pay at least half of that in order to stay here. unless somebody who's rich sees my givebutter page or something, i dunno if i can still stay here. i'm still looking into different agencies and stuff, but they either are income-based or they got tons of people waiting for help as well.

'sup y'all,

so far i have raised $1,290! :woot: also, i spoke with my landlord yesterday and told him that unfortunately there's no way that i'll be able to pay off what i owe in full since i don't know that many people. he spoke with the owners of the building and he said that they would let me stay here if i pay at least half of what i currently owe, which is $3,465. it's a small relief—i wish i still could pay it all back in full, tho.

i updated my givebutter page to explain what's going on right now. i'm still working on trying to get assistance from a couple places, but it'll be 1 to 2 months before i hear from anybody since everyplace is still swamped. please donate if you can, pass my givebutter link along. thanx to those of you who've helped so far!
