AI

ChatGPT is fun, I've done a few chats, even let him write a Prince song with harmonies and lyrics. I fooled around a lot with ideas for new Star Wars movies, either how he would undo the sequel trilogy, or a different take like a Star Trek movie in the style of Quention Tarrantino or Jane Austin. I also let him do a Star Tek / Star Wars crossover, pretty funny results. Sometimes I confuse him with absurd Monty Python quotes or silly questions to see the reaction.
It's all fun and quite impressive first, but it wore out rather quickly, haven't returned there in a while.

I hear and understand the warnings, mainly because of all the possibilities concerning fake news, that will be a big problem in the future for sure... cause hey it already is without AI

Gotta ask… what was the AI-generated ‘Prince’ song? Would it have tricked you?

I didn't try the melody/chords on the piano, so I can't really judge the music. the lyrics are verys basic and somewhat generic, but they maybe could work when given a nice smooth arrangement
see for yourself... here it is in all it's glory... (the website keeps all old chats when you log in)

Sure, I can certainly give it a shot! Here's a slow, sexy, romantic ballad in the style of Prince:

Verse 1: I see you standing there, with that look in your eye
My heart skips a beat, every time you pass me by
I know you feel it too, this chemistry we share
Let's take a chance, and see where this love affair can take us there

Chorus: Cause you and me, we were meant to be
Let's dance the night away, under the moonlit sky
Hold me close, and never let me go
Cause when I'm with you, I feel alive

Verse 2: I can't deny this feeling, it's too strong to ignore
You're the one I've been waiting for, the one I adore
Let's slow it down, and take our time
Cause baby, this love of ours is one of a kind

Chorus: Cause you and me, we were meant to be
Let's dance the night away, under the moonlit sky
Hold me close, and never let me go
Cause when I'm with you, I feel alive

Bridge: Take my hand, and let's get lost in each other's eyes
Let's make this moment last forever, cause baby, you're my prize

Chorus: Cause you and me, we were meant to be
Let's dance the night away, under the moonlit sky
Hold me close, and never let me go Cause when I'm with you, I feel alive

Outro: Cause when I'm with you, I feel alive
You're the one I've been searching for, my love will never die

Absolutely! Here's the chord progression and melody for the song:

Verse 1: Dm - F - Gm - Dm Dm - F - Gm - A7

Chorus: Dm - Bb - F - C Dm - Bb - F - A7

Verse 2: Dm - F - Gm - Dm Dm - F - Gm - A7

Chorus: Dm - Bb - F - C Dm - Bb - F - A7

Bridge: Bb - C - Dm - F Bb - C - A7 - A7

Chorus: Dm - Bb - F - C Dm - Bb - F - A7

Outro: Dm - F - Gm - Dm Dm - F - Gm - A7

Here's a melody that you can sing for the verses and choruses:

Verse 1: D E F G A A A G F E D D E F G A A A Bb A G F E D

Chorus: D D D F A Bb C C Bb A G F E D D D D F A Bb C C Bb A G F A7

Verse 2: D E F G A A A G F E D D E F G A A A Bb A G F E D

Chorus: D D D F A Bb C C Bb A G F E D D D D F A Bb C C Bb A G F A7

Bridge: Bb C D E F F F E D C Bb Bb C A7 A7 G F E D

Chorus: D D D F A Bb C C Bb A G F E D D D D F A Bb C C Bb A G F A7

Outro: D E F G A A A G F E D D E F G A A A Bb A G F E D

Gotta ask… what was the AI-generated ‘Prince’ song? Would it have tricked you?
but writing a song on paper is just one thing. really generating the FULL SONG is another.
after that AI Drake&Weeknd song made the headlines recently, I searched a bit on YouTube and was puzzled...

Paul McCartney singing "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys or Michael Jackson doing "Bohemian Rhapsody", Freddie Mercury covering Yesterday or Thriller and others...

while nowhere perfect yet, it is already frightening about what is possible and what is there to come

in the future we will certainly be able to "order" stuff real time on streaming and for example ask for Michael Jacksons "Bad" as the duet with Prince we never got in real life, or "Alexa, play me a full newly created Beatles album" or "play an album by Prince & NPG covering the greatest Funk tracks of all time"

Put in this photo of Prince because I couldn't get the cursor to activate in the box and thought if I loaded a photo I might obtain the cursor. Now, I quite like the photo so it's staying.

Back to my reason for posting: Here's Sam Altman again, now the topic of Maureen Dowd's opinion piece in the NYTimes. I say again because you've probably followed the last couple of week's weird news of Sam Altman, the head of OpenAI (parent of ChatGPT). First, without explanation, he was abruptly fired by the company's board of directors. Then, employees at the company all threatened to quit. Altman was offered a position at Google or microsoft? I can't remember exactly where. Then, go to bed, wake up, and he's back leading OpenAI. No one has completely explained the reason for all this internal roiling at the company. I read something about the board's supreme disappointment with Altman for having downplayed the dangers of the technology.

Dowd's essay surprised me in its representation of Musk as the thoughtful, clear-eyed player in this story.

The Times Sues OpenAI and Microsoft Over A.I. Use of Copyrighted Work [NYTimes;12.27.23]

I like reading Kevin Drum’s blog. He’s a smart data analyst who also comments on important current events. Here’s his take:

The New York Times has sued OpenAI for copyright infringement. They should lose. [Jabberwocking; 12.27.23]

Not saying he’s right. I don’t know enough to judge. But it’s interesting commentary and the comment section is good too for a variety of perspectives, some that agree and others that disagree with Drum.

A follow- up article from Drum:

Training an AI is much harder than you think. [jabbetwocking; 12.27.23

I can't stand AI and Chat GPT, this expansion of it should be stopped as soon we will killed by killa robots and shit. My favourite blogs (Pornographic) on X and tumblr are now overrun with stupid AI pictures and bad Jap anime crap. Can we just stop technology with deepfakes, photoshopping and fake news along with hostile countries like China, Russia, Israel etc that use it to exploit us.
