I'll list a few from my experience who's appeal I didn't get because I thought they were overrated or so

Al Green
Sting
Sade
Bob Dylan
R Kelly (the way Generation X hyped him up, you'd think he's the Sam Cooke of that era or something lool)
Mariah Carey (well, I'm very aware critically speaking she's not thought highly from the critics but her voice was always overrated)
The Beach Boys
Chaka Khan
Dusty Springfield

That's all for me, what about you guys?

Dusty? Wow. I'm surprised. I love Dusty Springfield. Probably agree with most of the rest, I wouldn't have had Chaka or Dusty on there though.

Controversially, I'd probably have Michael Jackson on my list.

Most manufactured boy/girl bands would be on there too.

I'd probably only keep Fleetwood Mac on this list. Oasis & the Beatles are legendary. Kanye I don't care for, maybe he could stay on the list.
But remember behind most legends there is only some truth that is significantly overstated so the legend is often overrated.

I came of age in the latter part of the 60s (66-69 to be exact) when Dusty was at the height of her fame and lemme tell you... You couldn't avoid this chick at all no matter what

I had a lot of classmate's who were really obsessed with her back then and, so I gave her a listen, played Son Of A Preacher... I thought she was trying to rip off the Motown stuff back then and thought her voice wasn't anything special to be honest.

Ever since then, that's how I feel really

You come up with some great topics JCrash54!

for me.

Elvis Presley (I can listen to like 2 songs of his) - bad singer, bad actor, no talent, can't write, can only strum guitar - meh
Nirvana (And all grunge for that matter) - yeah he is depressing loser who shot himself - who cares
AC/DC - It is just people screaming with loud grunt guitars and yah er rocker rollerisms, no melody and no direction
Motley Crue - Its loud metally crap
Jay Z - He is an average rapper at best
Justin Bieber - No talent, piece of shit and nothing but a singing sex packet
Nicki Minaj - Filthy mouthed, no flow, stupid acting and poor rapper/singer
Meatloaf - Overdone crap, okay voice but his songs are so over the top and pretensious.

I will find more.

I always thought AC/DC were overrated to be honest

People like whatever music they like. That's great but there are people who don't like music at all. Having said that, I cannot see the value of Drake AT. ALL.

Very interesting list. I like everyone on this list except R. Kelly and I like Mariah. She has an amazing voice but I just wish she'd stop being "hoochie".

I agree Drake is horrible - no talent and no flow, none of these modern rappers can flow. I mean 2Pac and Biggie sang about bitches, drugs, money, how cool he was and shooting people all the time, but their songs had flow and they could rhyme, you could bob your head to their shit - these new rappers - hell naw.

I pretty much can't stand any rap - its cheaply made garbage that has socially irresponsible lyrics about promoting drug use, treating women as objects and extolling gang violence, buffoonery and conspicuous consumption. And yet the shitty rappers keep coming, everytime you think they have hit rock bottom, a new one comes out that is even more stupid and offensive. Take Pooh Shiesty and Lil Baby - their infantile grunt rap makes Lil Wayne sound like Afrika Bambata.

Mariah I agree, was good in the 90s, but has become a video ho and now thinks she is the Aretha Franklin of singing, yet as someone else said, she is basically a ghetto ass hoochie mama.

Others I can't stand

Ed Sheeran (Yawn, overrated)
Adele - Conceited with a very horrible voice
Amy Drughouse - Average voice
Selena Gomez - Singing stripper
Maroon 5 - Bland bland and how are they so popular
All Boyband/Girlband and their solo careers, eg Harry Styless.

Mariah wishes she was Aretha Franklin. Unlike her, Aretha has stood the test of time and critically and commercially successful and is a well respected musician who changed soul music.

Mariah needed Mottola to spoon feed her, after 1996 went downhill

Pretty interesting to see the new generation of Dusty Springfield fans in here. She was huge when I was growing up in the 60s

Simply Red
I kind of agree, they are one of these groups that were likable in the period they were hot, but they have just dated very badly. The main guy was a prick, but they had some great songs like their Prince homage "Do the right thing" and late 1980s upbeat pop "New Flame", most of the Stars album is bearable and Money too tight too mention is still a Thatcherite classic.

I love me some Dusty, I only wanna be with you and I just don't what to do with myself are classics. I also really like her 1987 duet with the Pet Shop boys (Her conveyor belt haircut and shoulderpads less so). But I will admit I don't know her music really beyond hits. What I do know is she came out as gay before she died and she gets respect for that being from a conservative Irish Catholic Family in Northern England.
